The new DiGRA ISRAEL Website, new logo and the DiGRA ISRAEL's future activites plan, were officially approved and endorsed by the DIGRA Board and President, Prof. Tanya Krzywinska, during the Board's February 2008 meeting. ****About DiGRA ISRAEL***** The Israeli DiGRA Chapter is an Israeli association of academics and practitioners whose work focuses on digital games, virtual worlds and associated activities. Focus technologies of the association include (but are not restricted to) existing types of computer and video games, online games, virtual worlds, arcade games, games on handheld and mobile devices and games delivered through digital television or other forms of interactive technologies. **** The Israeli DiGRA Chapter was founded on August 2006. On February 19th 2007 Dr. Hanan Gazit, the Israeli DiGRA (Digital Games Research Association) Chapter officially announced DiGRA ISRAEL on the "Online Games are a Serious Matter" special session, at the ISOC-IL 2007 national convention held in Avenue Convention Center, Airport City, Lod, Israel. The Israeli DiGRA Chapter's vision and goals presented during the opening session were followed by presentations of leading speakers from both the academia and the Israeli games development industry, covering different aspects of digital games and virtual worlds. The discussion held in the end of the session stresses the need for the creation of a focal point which would foster the discussion and the collaboration between the academia and the industry, and other relevant parties interested in digital games and virtual worlds research and development, as well as exploring its potential as instruction, learning & business tools.
