Cologne Game Lab – Applications open!

The Cologne Game Lab is happy to announce that the application process for the Master of Arts in Game Development and Research and the Bachelor of Arts in Digital Games is underway for the winter semester of 2017-2018.

Both programs are in English and open to German and international students alike. Applicants have until March 31 to finish the first stage of the application process. Classes start in October.

The Cologne Game Lab is a department of the TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences, which is located in Cologne, Germany, and it works closely with a wide range of Game Developers, such as Electronic Arts, Ubisoft Blue Byte, Guerrilla Games, Bright Future, Takomat, and The Good Evil.


Master of Arts in Game Development and Research

The Master of Arts in Game Development and Research is a project-oriented program that lasts four semesters and is designed to be combined with part-time work (whether it is a job in the industry, the development of a personal project, etc.). Students receive guidance in the development of numerous game design projects as well as the theoretical foundations necessary for a critical approach to the design and research of video games.

To apply to the MA program, you need a Bachelor degree or equivalent and a minimum of 12 months of work experience in a media-related field. Bachelor of Arts in Digital Games

The Bachelor of Arts in Digital Games is a full-time program that lasts seven semesters and is divided into three specialization tracks: Game Arts, Game Design, and Game Programming. During the first two semesters students receive general training in all three areas. From the third semester onward, each student focuses on the specialization of their choice. Along with the practical and project-based modules, the students acquire the theoretical grounds necessary for the critical examination of video games.

To apply to the BA program you need an Abitur, Fachabitur (German high school diploma), or equivalent.
