Preliminary Results of State of Digital Games Research International Survey

Some months ago, an international survey assessing the state of digital games research was conducted by the Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA), the Digital Games Research Temporary Working Group of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) and the Game Studies Special Interest Group of the International Communication Association (ICA). The goal of the study was to obtain a clearer picture of the people involved in research into digital games: their backgrounds, types of activities, perceptions of the field and ideas for future directions.

Preliminary results have been presented at the International Communication Association (ICA) Conference last month and  work on a manuscript with full results is currently under way.

In a number of important and fundamental ways, EVE is unique, and this uniqueness translates into the potential for interesting and innovative research. We believe that it will be invaluable to have a corpus of this research assembled together, to guide future research in this domain and emphasise the broader contributions EVE scholarship can make. Consequently, we’re delighted to invite you to contribute to an EVE Online workshop at the DiGRA 2013 conference, with the goal of discussing and outlining an ‘EVE Online Reader‘; an edited collection of EVE Online scholarship.
